The 6th of the “Shut up and Write” series for the PGSA member is happening this Thursday, the 27th of August from 5-7pm. The PGSA will be hosting a writing event exclusively for postgrads at the main Engineering building, level 5 tutorial room 404-501. There will be arrows pointing to the venue so you won’t get lost.
Whether you want alone, quiet, quality writing time or get into a group for peer review and discussions, we have your writing needs catered for you.
This Month, we have a guest speaker, Jenny Jones from ELE (5:30 pm-6:00 pm).
Jenny will be showing us a range of online and print-based resources which students can access to develop their academic writing ability, and introduce other workshops that ELE provides which is focused on “Writing in English”. In particular, the focus will be on English grammar, vocabulary, academic writing style, and writing in the disciplines (e.g., Scientific Writing, Writing in Engineering, and Critical reading and writing).
Hand-outs with links to a wide range of resources that are freely accessible will be provided at the end of the talk. Students are welcome to bring their digital devices in case they want to access the resources during the workshop.
Also, there will be free snack food to keep your energy levels high and writing productive!
